--Playoff Time is Here, Our Time--
Dear Shiloh Friends and Family,

We have reached that exciting time of the football season – state playoffs.
We won our conference and earned a bye in the first round. We will need all of
you to come out and be loud in your support of the Saints.

There are a few changes from the regular season games. The cost of
admission is $5.00 for both students and adults. Everyone who enters the
stadium must pay unless they have a AAA pass.

Your blue and silver seat tickets will reserve your seat, but you will need to
purchase a ticket to enter the game. This will be true through the play-offs.

Student passes, Elementary T-shirts, faculty/staff passes, and senior passes
will not be honored through the play-off games. This is not our choice, but a
AAA rule.

Also, play-off games will start at 7:30 pm.

To God be the glory,

Josh Floyd

~ Saints and Purple 'Dogs to be First Scrimmage of 2008 Season ~
Coach Josh Floyd will take his Shiloh Christian Saints to the home of the 2007
Class 7A State Champions on August 25. The Saints will take on Daryl Patton's
Fayetteville Bulldogs at Harmon Field in Fayetteville, at 7:30 pm for a scrimmage
game. This will be the first time these two schools have met in football, though it
will not count on their record. It's also the very first live action football in the state
of Arkansas for 2008, being the first head to head scrimmage of the year. The
game should serve as a good prep for Floyd and the Saints, before they travel to
Shreveport, LA 11 days later to face power Evangel Christian.

* Note: This is a home-and-home series, meaning Fayetteville High will come to
Champions Stadium in 2009 to scrimmage.

for, Under Armour is now the OFFICIAL outfitter and sponsor of Shiloh
Christian Saints football. The Saints will wear Under Armour uniforms, cleats,
accessories and apparel exclusively starting in the winter of 2008.

Shiloh becomes just the twelfth high school program in the United States to be
chosen by Under Armour for sponsorship. The contract currently stands at two

--Rod Washington, Dawayne Hudson join Saints Staff--
Rod Washington
Dawayne Hudson
The Saints staff was completed on Friday, and the additions look to be
promising. Rod Washington was hired as the Wide Receivers Coach along
with duties of 7th Grade Head Coach, and Dawayne Hudson was hired to
control the Defensive Line. Both men were introduced to the team on Friday
afternoon.

Washington comes to Shiloh from Plano, TX. The last 5 seasons, Coach
Washington has served as Offensive Coordinator at Prestonwood Christian
Academy, while also coaching QB’s and Receivers. During this time, he
installed a no-huddle, spread offense, which helped PCA win the 2005 Texas
State Championship. Before coming to PCA, Washington served at 3 different
high schools in the Dallas area at the 5A level. One of these schools was Allen
High School, where he worked under current University of Tulsa Head Coach
Todd Graham. Coach Washington brings with him 12 years of experience,
while working at some great programs. Another great quality about Coach
Washington is his experience in speed training. He has helped develop and
improve many athletes in his career. He will teach Christian Studies & coach
track.

Dawayne Hudson is a Shiloh alumni, who graduated with Head Coach Josh
Floyd in 1999. He helped lead Shiloh to its first ever State Championship in
1998. Coach Hudson is coming to SC from Harrison, AR, where he has been
coaching defense the past 2 seasons. Before coming to Harrison, Coach
Hudson also served as Defensive Coordinator and Head Junior High Coach at
Union Christian Academy. Hudson was an All-American linemen at Evangel
University.
~ Former Shiloh Standout Crosby Tuck Looks to Shine in Arkansas'
New Spread Attack ~
"Crosby Tuck.....Touchdown Arkansas!!!!!!" Those were the words heard loud and
clear on not only Tuck's first college reception, but his second as well. Yes, he
scored touchdowns on his first 2 catches on the collegiate level, not many players
can say that, if any. Promising freshman year right? Here's where the Kentucky
game comes in. In week 3 of the season, after making an unbelievable catch over
a Kentucky defensive back, Tuck fractured a bone in his elbow, forcing surgery
and sidelining the speedster for the remainder of the 2007 season. He finished the
year with 3 receptions for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns.
With the graduation of Marcus Monk and Robert
Johnson, Tuck has the possibility of being the
featured receiver for the Razorbacks in 2008.
However, things will be different in Razorback
Stadium. From the moment new Head Coach
Bobby Petrino stepped on campus in December, he
has been clear on one thing, the Hogs will have a
wide open spread offense, and the goal is to be the
best in the country. When Petrino was at Louisville,
he consistently had one of the top offenses in
college football, while taking the program to a new
level, winning the 2007 Orange Bowl by defeating
Wake Forest 24-13. In that 2006 season, the
Cardinals had 2 receivers with over 950 yards
receiving, 3 with over 500 yards, and a total of 5 players had over 200 yards
receiving. In addition to those stats, Petrino's offense in 2006 also fed the ball to
17 different receivers. The offense as a whole finished in the top 10 nationally.
With these kinds of numbers, Tuck's eyes have to be lighting up.

Along with Junior London Crawford, Tuck is listed at the top of the wide receiver
depth chart going into the 2008 spring camp. He also received a redshirt for the
2007 season, meaning he will have four years to play for the Hogs in 2008.
Recovered from his elbow injury, he is going full speed ahead to the '08 season,
the only way Tuck has ever played the game, and it looks like we may be hearing
the words "Crosby Tuck.....Touchdown Arkansas!!!!!!!" many, many times over the
next four years.
~ Running Back Matt Gerlt is Taking His Game to Tulsa ~
Shiloh's 2007 Offensive MVP, Matt Gerlt, has decided to join Head Coach Todd
Graham and Offensive Coordinator Gus Malzahn at the University of Tulsa to
further his football playing career. After an injury plagued Junior season, Gerlt
was a key player in the Saints' 2007 offense that advanced to the State Title
Game, scoring 66 points the previous week. Whether it was rushing or receiving,
Gerlt did it all. In Week 2 against Gravette, Gerlt totalled 217 yards, rushing for
102 and catching 3 passes for 115 yards, earning the High School Sports The
Magazine Player of the Week award. The Senior also earned 1AAA All
Conference honors in 2007. He becomes the 11th active collegiate player from
Shiloh, and the 37th collegiate player in the program's history.
~ SC Alum Eric Shaffer Reunites with Ingram,
Chooses Missouri State ~
After a stint in paradise, Eric Shaffer is coming back to the mainland. The 5'11 205
pound wide receiver will be suiting up for the Missouri State Bears in 2008, after 2
years with the Hawaii Warriors program. As a senior in 2005, Shaffer enjoyed an
outstanding year, leading the Saints to the Class 3A State Quarterfinals. He
racked up 1,335 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns. Sporting a 4.31 40 yard
dash, he was named an Emfinger All-American, and was NWA All Area and an All
Conference member.

In the Fall of 2006, Shaffer enrolled at Hawaii as a "Greyshirt", meaning he would
be a full scholarship player after one semester. After an impressive spring with
the Warriors, Coach June Jones made the decision to Redshirt Shaffer for the
2007 season, allowing him to put more weight to his frame while maintaining his
blazing fast speed (55,100, and 200 meter State Champion in 2006, "Morning News
Male Track Athlete of the Year"). The Spring of 2008 saw Shaffer getting
significant special teams work, and reserve duty in Hawaii's wide open spread
offense. However, Shaffer missed home, and the oppurtunity to spend much more
time with his family was too much to pass up.

After looking at Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Portland State, Shaffer chose to enroll at
Missouri State University, an NCAA Championship Subdivision school that
participates in the Missouri Valley Conference. He will once again join 2007
Shiloh graduate David Ingram, along with his classmate Nolan Hankins. Though
Shaffer and Ingram were a "thunder and lightning" combination in the backfield
in 2005, Ingram (dubbed as "The Freak" at SC) is now a 2nd team linebacker for
the bears. Shaffer will be eligible to play immediately, as a Redshirt Sophomore,
and will be expected to contribute right away in the Bears' pass happy offense,
led by Rogers, Arkansas native, sophomore quarterback Cody Kirby.
~ Five Saints Receive Pre-Season Honors,
Four on Super Soph. Team ~
The annual Arkansas Democrat Gazette pre-season honors have been handed
out, and the Saints' program is well represented. On the All-Arkansas Offensive
team, headlined by Little Rock Christian superstar running back Michael Dyer,
Offensive Tackle Nick O'Quinn (an Army commit) was named to one of the five
O-Line spots. O'Quinn joins the likes of Crosby Tuck as a selection from Shiloh,
after an abscence on the 2007 squad. The senior
performed extremely well in Shiloh's benefit game with
Fayetteville High last Monday, receiving praises for his
play on both offense and defense.

Super Sophomores? The state's media certainly seems to
think so. The Saints landed four players on the '08
Pre-Season Super Sophomore Team, a record mark for
players from one team on the list. The Saints honored on
the list were; DT Samuel Harvill, OT Travis Bodenstein,
DB Garrett Harper, and WR Zann Jones. All four played
for the State Runner-Up team of 2007. Bodenstein already
has an offer from the University of Tulsa, and the other
three are in line for another super season for the Saints
in 2008.

~ Former Shiloh Coach Gus Malzahn Sets the Standard ~
Coach Gus Malzahn. Utter those words at Shiloh Christian, and it will bring a
smile to many faces, and memories to many minds. Ask an alum that played for
Coach, and you may get a loud "Gaaahhhllee" impersonation of Malzahn's most
frequented term in practice. Ask a fan that watched him run the Saints, and you
may hear an amazing story of the Shiloh-Junction City Quarterfinal game in 1999,
when the Saints came from behind to win 70-64. Ask a parent whose children
played for Gus Malzahn, and you will hear about a man that cares just as much
as his athletes as he does about winning and losing. But there's much more to the
Tulsa University Offensive Coordinator, and his philosophy that has changed the
game.

Malzahn's first head coaching job was at Hughes High School in Hughes,
Arkansas. After just one season as the Defensive Coordinator, he was promoted to
head coach. Shortly after, Malzahn took the Blue Devils to the 1994 State Finals,
something the school had never done before. He used a run-oriented offense to
power Hughes, but changes were on the horizon.

After one more season in Hughes, Malzahn was offered the position of head
coach at Shiloh Christian, and accepted. The Saints had just come off the most
successful season in school history, advancing to the Class 1A State Quarterfinals,
with a 12-1 record. But there was something missing, something that was keeping
Shiloh from War Memorial Stadium in December. That something arrived in 1997.
In 1996, his first year as head Saint, Malzahn stuck with the pro style offense he
had been successful with before, a little pass, a little run, and the Saints lost their
first 4 games. Winning six of their next 7 games, the 1996 Shiloh team lost in the
2nd Round of the State Playoffs, finishing 6-6. The 1997 off-season, a period of
time that may deserve to be a celebrated holiday of sorts around Johnson Road
in Springdale. This is when Gus Malzahn and his young, bright offensive
coordinator Chris Wood started discussing what needed to be done in order to
take the Shiloh Christian football program to another level, what would give them
an advantage? Well, they found it. Enter the "Hurry-Up No-Huddle" offense.
Complete with a strange board, consisting of one set of colors and three sets of
numbers, the machine was created.
Over the next four seasons Shiloh would amass 27,265 yards,
averaging nearly 7,000 yards a year of total offense, a feat
unheard of in high school football. Also, with the "Hurry-Up"
pace of the No-Huddle offense, the Saints were able to double
the amount of plays they ran in a season, creating more
opportunities for the offense. During this period of time
(1997-2000), Shiloh QB's Josh Floyd and Rhett Lashlee both
shattered national passing records, as well as rewriting the
record books for the state of Arkansas. In 2000, Malzahn's squad
was ranked pre-season #11 in America, along with the title
"America's best team you may have never heard of". But what
Gus Malzahn created at Shiloh Christian was more than the
"Hurry-Up No-Huddle". He created a mentality, a passion, a work
ethic, a dedication, he created a powerhouse that would feel the effects for years
to come.

In 2001, Coach Malzahn took on the tough task of replacing "The Man", Jarrell
Williams at Springdale High School. There is an old quote that reads "You don't
replace The Man, you replace the man that replaces The Man". Well, not this guy.
Malzahn took the challenge full speed ahead, and what came of it was the
greatest thing the town of Springdale has ever seen. After a near century of
pound it out football and hard-nosed defense, the Red 'Dogs switched to
Malzahn's philosophy of score fast, and score often. After working out the kinks in
a 7-4 campaign in his first season, the 2002 Bulldogs finished the season 12-2 and
advanced the 5A State Finals. During that year, Malzahn created was it now
known all over the United States as the "Wildcat" formation. With a young
Quarterback, Malzahn took his best playmaker, Dusty Johnson, and lined him up
at Quarterback behind what he knew to be an offensive line built for running the
football. The result was unstoppable, using Johnson in every way possible, the
Bulldogs kept the defenses guessing on every play. That same Springdale team
defeated national powerhouse Jenks, Oklahoma in week 3, a huge win for
Malzahn and another step in creating the phenomenon.
The offense had been proven; the numbers did all the talking.
What's next? In 2003 Gus Malzahn wrote a book, entitled
The
Hurry-Up No-Huddle: An Offensive Philosophy
. This sparked even
more nationwide interest in the offense, and the man that had
created it. Schools all over America adopted the system, and
saw the excitement it brought to their program. On the book,
then Florida Defensive Coordinator John Thompson was quoted
as saying "This is a new age of football for the new
millennium".
"The Year of the Dog", that's exactly what 2005 was. The '05 football season
brought Malzahn's success to a new level. Led by Quarterback Mitch Mustain, and
wide receiver Damian Williams, the '05 Springdale Bulldogs blew through every
opponent en route to a 14-0 State Championship season. This team finished #2 in
the United States, and 7 athletes went on to sign Division 1 college scholarships.
This was the first SHS class to complete a full 5 year, junior high and senior high
time period in Malzahn's "Hurry-Up No-Huddle" system, and the results were what
many would call the greatest high school team Arkansas has ever seen.
Malzahn was hired as Offensive Coordinator of the Arkansas
Razorbacks in 2006. He implemented the "Wildcat" formation
that he ran at Springdale with Johnson, inserting all-everything
running back Darren McFadden as the ball carrier. The Hogs
would go on to win the SEC Western Division, and finish with a
10-4 mark, the best Razorback finish since 1998. Concluding the
2006 season, Malzahn was named NCAA Offensive Coordinator
of the Year.
Now, Malzahn resides in the brand new,
state of the art Case Complex at Tulsa University, as
Offensive Coordinator. In 2007, the Golden Hurricane
offense piled up 7,614 yards running the "Hurry-Up
No-Huddle", earning the title of #1 offense in NCAA Division
1 football. Quarterback Paul Smith graduated as one of the
most successful in the history of TU. The offense had a 5,000
yard passer, one 1,000-yard rusher and three 1,000-yard
receivers - becoming the first team in NCAA history to
accomplish that feat. This year, Coach Malzahn and TU
once again have the #1 offense in America, and the Golden
Hurricane is an undefeated 8-0 with their eyes set on a BCS
bowl berth in January.
You see Shiloh Christian fans, football fans, entertainment fans; one thing is a
continuous pattern with Gus Malzahn, success. Wherever Coach has been, he has
won games. Call it a system, call it what you want,
but you can for sure call one thing, where Gus
Malzahn goes success is soon to follow. But not only
has he won games, he has won people. At Hughes,
Shiloh Christian, Springdale High, Arkansas, and
Tulsa, the name Gus Malzahn and the things he has
done, warms the hearts of so many people. His
integrity, the way he treats people, the way he can
make the smallest player feel like they are an All-American. The way he can
make a fan feel like they are just as important as the players to the program's
success, the way he does things, is something to be admired.
In the most simple way I know how to put it, he does things right, he does things
first class………he's SIMPLY THE BEST.

~ Sophomore Kiehl Frazier Receives Offer From Tulsa University ~
The quarterback of the 2008 Saints, Sophomore Kiehl Frazier received a
wonderful Christmas present from Head Coach Floyd on Monday. Tulsa Offensive
Coordinator Gus Malzahn notified Coach Floyd that the Golden Hurricane was
extending an offer to the super sophomore. Frazier was the 4A State
Championship Game MVP on Saturday, as the Saints captured the title.
