Shiloh Christian Hires Two Defensive Assistants
Shiloh Christian filled out its 2017 football staff this week with the hiring of two new defensive assistants hailing
from the 7A-West. Jacob Gill is the new Defensive Coordinator for the Saints and will also coach Safeties. Coach
Gill comes to SC from Springdale High School where he has spent the last three seasons as Special Teams
Coordinator and Secondary coach for the Bulldogs.
"I am excited to have Jacob Gill as our defensive coordinator. He bring will bring an exciting and aggressive style
of defense that will produce great results" said Head Coach Jeff Conaway.
Steve Rutledge has been hired as Assistant Head Coach and Linebackers coach for the Saints. Rutledge comes
to Shiloh from Fayetteville High School where he helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2016 Class 7A State
"Steve Rutledge will provide a great amount of spiritual leadership and experience to our staff, program, and
team. He will bring great value to our school in his role as the Dean of Students", Conaway said.

Jacob Gill Bio
Coach Gill just completed his seventh season coaching high school football in the state of Arkansas. His most
recent stop was at 7A - West Springdale High School where he served as the Special Teams Coordinator and
Defensive Backs Coach for the Red Dogs. While at Springdale, Red Dogs earned back to back playoff births for
the first time since the 2005 and 2006 teams.
Coach Gill joined the SHS football program after serving 4 years at Siloam Springs High School. Coach Gill was
in charge of the secondary all 4 years during his tenure at Siloam Springs and was the Co-Defensive Coordinator
during his last 2 seasons. In those two seasons as Co-DC, the Panthers created 37 takeaways, allowed 16 less
touchdowns than the two previous seasons, and earned back to back playoff experiences. Prior to coaching in
Northwest Arkansas, Coach Gill coached at Olathe Northwest High School in Olathe, KS.
Coach Gill graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2010 from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, KS. At MNU
Coach Gill received his BSE in Physical Education/Sports Management and minored in Nutrition. He also served
as an intern in the MNU Strength & Conditioning program where he worked with the football, men's and women's
basketball, and volleyball teams. While at MNU, Coach Gill was a 4 year starter and All-HAAC selection for the
Coach Gill is a 2005 Honors Graduated from Siloam Springs High School.
Coach Gill and his wife, Kala, have been married for 8 years. The couple has two boys, Colson (5) and Keegan
(3), and are expecting their third child in November of 2017.

Steve surrendered to Jesus as Lord on May 2nd, 1993 and married to his high school sweetheart, formerly
known as Lorie Midgley, on May 22nd, 1993. Lorie was the first person Steve shared the gospel with, and she
was saved the day after their wedding.
Steve and Lorie have four children: Taylor (21) now married to Bobby Graham and attending Southeastern in
Durant, OK. Briley (18) now attending Rogers State in Claremore, OK and married to Daylon Duncan. Jaxton (14)
and Roman (7) who are currently attending school in Poteau, OK.
Steve has worked directly under three hall of fame coaches and been apart of seven playoff runs, including four
semifinals and three state championships in 12 years of coaching, most recently at Fayetteville High School
where he coached defensive line for the 2016 season. Steve was also part of playoff runs at Ada HS (Ada, OK) in
1993 and 1994, and Poteau HS (Poteau, OK) in 1992, 1996-1998.
Coach Rutledge was part of four successful rebuilding projects where new or losing schools were turned around
and are now perennial playoff contenders. These were at Denton HS (Denton, TX) in 1995, Memorial HS (Tulsa,
OK) in 1999, and as a head coach at Hilldale HS (Muskogee, OK) in 2000 and Wilburton HS (Wilburton, OK) in
2001 and 2002.
Coach Rutledge pursued a career in the business world from 2003 to 2012 and has now dived back into
education as part of a bigger spiritual purpose, "Partnering to help people become champions in whatever God
has made them passionate about."
